Kadala Curry
Ingredients for Kadala Curry
Kadala (Black channa) - 1/4 kg
Onion (big) - 1 no
Garlic pods - 5 nos (chopped)
Red chillies - 8 nos
Red chilly powder - 1 1/2 tbsp
Coriander powder - 3 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Curry leaves - 3 big stems
Coconut oil - 3 tbsp
Small onions (Kunjulli) - 7 nos
Coconut kotthu - 1/2 of one (finely sliced into small pieces)
Water - As reqd
Salt - As reqd
Preparation Method of Kadala Curry
1). Heat 1 tbsp of coconut oil in a pressure cooker.
2). Add onion, dry red chillies cut into two pieces, garlic, coconut kotthu, kadala (channa)and about 4 glasses or more water.
3). Cook upto 4 whistles.
4). Add coriander powder, chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt and cook for 5 mins on a medium flame.
5). Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan.
6). Splutter mustard seeds.
7). Add 2 tbsp of coconut kotthu and shallots and saute it till it becomes slight golden brown.
8). Add 3 stems of curry leaves and add this to the kadala curry.
9). Mix and serve.
